Removal of Asbestos

Work is due to begin on Wednesday 31st August to remove asbestos insulation board discovered beneath the floor of the north transept, where it had been used to roof an old heating duct. At the same time unsealed asbestos-containing debris will be removed from an old boiler room and vinyl tiles containing sealed asbestos will be removed from the choir vestry. We hope that the work to remove asbestos will be finished by 7th September, although further work will still be required to reinstate the floors, which cannot be planned until the asbestos has been removed allowing further examination of what lies beneath.
