Improved Step-free Access:
The Finishing Touches
This page is part of our project "Revealing St Alban's Hidden Heritage" supported by a grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, thanks to players of The National Lottery.
Because of Covid-19 there was a considerable delay in finishing work to improve the gate on Stanhope Street, with one leaf of the existing gate replaced with a new double-width gate to allow the future access of a large cherry picker for high-level maintenance or other vehicles.
The New Gate and Widened Path
We also have a new entryphone for visitors to call through from the lobby to the church hall for admission to events there:
The Entryphone beside the Door from the Lobby to the Corridor
The unit in the lobby provides a video link to the hall and is combined with the numeric lock to admit those who know the key.
The Entryphone Unit in the Lobby.
The Entryphone Unit in the Church Hall.
The video link gives a clear (if slightly distorted) view of the Lobby.
The Screen of the Hall Entryphone Unit.
